Lifetime Achievement Award

This award recognizes an individual whose achievements and work over their career has aided in the advancement of African Americans. This person has a track record of outstanding accomplishments in the community and receives GHBC’s highest honor.

Ebony Magazine – Williard Jackson & Lisa Johnson

Excellence Award

This award recognizes an individual and/or a company that is a nonprofit or social entrepreneur that has been instrumental and influential in the development of African-Americans supporting community efforts.

TBK Foods – Marcus Davis

Larry V. Green Advocate of the Year Award

This award recognizes an individual and/or company that has been influential in the growth of the Chamber and African-American owned businesses

Donovan Casanave, Shell

Mickey Leland Entrepreneur Public Service Award

This award recognizes African-American businesses that advocate for civic leadership and public service in the Houston community.

Charlotte Kelly Bryant, Blue Triangle

Endurance Award

This award recognizes a business in the Houston community that has exhibited longevity, perseverance and strength.

Gerald Womack, Womack Development

Founded in 1935 as the city’s first African -American civic organization, the GHBC has evolved into an active participant in the City of Houston’s socioeconomic process. The organization is a 501(c)(6), not-for-profit, private, member-driven organization that serves the Greater Houston Area. The GHBC helps its partners and members navigate Houston’s large, diverse population, industries and the many nuances, which are unique to Houston.
