Pinnacle Nominee Annual Reception Announced

GHBC To Honor Successful African-American Businesses

Houston, TX–On Thursday, September 1, 2016, the Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce (GHBC) will hold its annual nominee reception to announce the 2016 Pinnacle Awards Finalist and GHBC Honorees.

The nominee reception will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wortham Theater Center, 501 Texas Avenue, Houston, Texas.  The Annual Pinnacle Awards will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016, at The Power Center, 12401 South Post Oak Road, Houston, Texas.

Now in its 22nd year, the GHBC Pinnacle Award is held to honor excellence, tenacity and dedication of entrepreneurial spirit in the black business community.  The awards go to African-American entrepreneurs who not only have succeeded in business, but have positively impacted the communities and industries they serve.

The nominees are vying for four coveted Pinnacle Awards.  In addition, GHBC will bestow the Advocate Award, honoring organizations that have been true champions for African-American small businesses and the Mack Hannah Jr. Upstart Award (Upstart Award), recognizing a burgeoning business on the path to entrepreneurial success.  Recipients of the Upstart Award will receive a cash equity injection, corporate branding package, advisory consultation, and a business profile in the Chamber Newsletter.

“We’re extremely excited about this year’s [Pinnacle] Awards,” said Che’ McFerrin, co-chairwoman. “These businesses are significant contributors to our overwhelming success as we look at the state of the nation.”

“In honoring our current great companies and leaders I believe that others will notice what they’re doing and look at their blueprint for success,” said Latoya Bullard-Franklin, co-chairwoman. “We are on one mission, which is our theme: ‘We Are One.’ We’re working together to create a better Houston.”
