Lyft Provides Technology Grant to The Greater Houston Black Chamber Of Commerce
Jim Black, Executive Vice President of Lyft, presented the Greater Houston Black Chamber (GHBC) of Commerce with a $5,000 technology grant at the GHBC’s monthly board meeting. The grant will help improve the organization’s technological infrastructure by updating the existing equipment used by local entrepreneurs and Chamber members.
“The Greater Houston Black Chamber has time and again displayed their strong commitment to local businesses and we are honored to be part of such a respected organization,” said Mr. Black. “Lyft’s peer-to-peer platform has been part of an exciting transportation movement across Houston and we look forward to partnering with the Chamber to help make city life safer, friendlier and more affordable.”
Following a brief presentation, GHBC President Leonard James III officially welcomed Lyft into the Chamber of Commerce and praised Lyft’s ongoing commitment to the Houston community.
“We’re excited to welcome Lyft into the Chamber,” said Greater Houston Black Chamber Chairwoman Vernita Harris. “Lyft is an innovative company looking to provide solutions to some of Houston’s most common transportation issues – we are in complete support of their efforts. As an organization committed to local businesses, we look forward to supporting Lyft as they become a bigger part of our community.”
In addition to improving the Chamber’s tech infrastructure, this contribution will enhance the
GHBC’s relationship with its student intern, Tahj Johnson. Mr. Johnson helps to manage the Chamber’s social media networks and is currently studying Structural Design Analysis at the University of Houston – Downtown.
